About
Akiba ya Wazee is a specialized food security initiative founded in order to bridge the nutritional gap for our most vulnerable seniors. We believe that aging should be met with dignity, not hunger.
While many programs focus on general relief, we provide a targeted Nutritional Reserve designed specifically for the health requirements of the elderly.
The Mission
In our community, many elders aged 60 and above face significant challenges in accessing basic food due to low income, illness, disability, or a lack of family support. This lack of food security directly impacts their health, strength, and overall well-being.
Akiba ya Wazee is a pilot initiative by the Ishi Nia Foundation (INF) designed to provide essential food assistance in a way that respects the dignity and equality of our seniors
Our Targeted Approach
To ensure resources reach those in the most urgent need, we prioritize beneficiaries based on specific criteria verified by local government leadership

The Gold Standard of Transparency

Verified Beneficiaries: We work directly with Ward and Street leadership to identify and confirm the list of those in need.

Batch Traceability: Food is purchased and packaged into kits tailored to the specific needs of each household.

Verified Delivery: Distributions are conducted at designated community points, or delivered directly to the homes of the bedridden, with every receipt confirmed by a signature or thumbprint
.

Impact Reporting: At the end of every pilot phase, we produce a report detailing the number of people helped, costs incurred, and lessons learned for future scaling
.
