About the Project
Lishe kwa Wazee (“Elderly Nutrition”) is a digital awareness campaign dedicated to promoting nutritional health, dignity, and wellbeing for elderly people in Tanzania. The project highlights the importance of balanced diets for older adults through educational content, storytelling, and expert contributions. By working with caregivers, nutritionists, and community members, it advocates for affordable, health-conscious meal options that are suitable for different age-related conditions. At its core, the campaign is about recognizing the value of our elders and ensuring they are not left behind in conversations about health and care.
Why It Matters
As people age, their bodies require specific nutrients to stay strong, manage chronic illnesses, and maintain energy. Unfortunately, many elderly Tanzanians face poor access to nutritious food, limited income, and a lack of information on age-appropriate diets. This can lead to preventable health issues and a decline in quality of life. Promoting good nutrition is not just about food, it’s about showing care, preserving independence, and restoring dignity. Supporting elder nutrition helps build healthier families and a more compassionate society.
